KSB Australia Pty Ltd. is a leading pump manufacturer servicing the Australian Mining, Water & Waste Water Markets.

Project Background

KSB Brisbane, a leading pump and valve specialist, faced a complex inventory challenge at their Brisbane service centre. With a vast array of spare parts spanning widely varying dimensions—from small seals and fittings to large valve components—their existing storage setup struggled to keep pace with demand. To remain competitive and better serve their clients, the team sought to modernize operations with a smarter storage solution designed to reduce retrieval times, improve organization, and deliver faster turnaround on critical service requests.

Constraints

The project demanded a versatile storage solution capable of handling extreme variability in part sizes. The system needed to accommodate everything from small gaskets and O-rings to significantly larger mechanical seals—all within a single, unified platform. This required flexible tray configurations that could adapt to diverse dimensional requirements without wasting valuable space. Equally important was dust protection. Sensitive mechanical components required a fully enclosed environment to shield them from airborne contaminants that could compromise part integrity and performance.

Implementation

The implementation delivered a tailored solution engineered to maximize every inch of available space. Customized tray heights were configured within the Vertical Lift Module, allowing the system to automatically adjust and optimize internal density based on each part’s unique dimensions—eliminating wasted vertical space between trays. The fully enclosed VLM design proved equally valuable, creating a clean, protected environment that shields sensitive components from dust, debris, and environmental contaminants. This ensures parts remain in pristine condition until the moment they’re needed.
